The Weddin Day Therapy Program, a program that is aimed at keeping older people active and independent, commenced in Grenfell in 2003 and has since provided a much needed health care facility to residents aged over 60 years.
The program aims to assist residents in maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle and encourages health and well-being.
The new treadmill will greatly assist participants in falls prevention therapy, cardio rehabilitation as well as helping to improve and maintain mobility.
The Weddin Day Therapy program is run by local Registered Nurse Belinda Wilson and is coordinated by Occupational Therapist Helen Denovan.
The new treadmill will cost approximately $7000 and will be of great benefit to participants of the Weddin Day Therapy program.
Glenice Clarke, president of the Grenfell Hospital Auxiliary along with treasurer Vicki Reid last Wednesday, May 7, presented Helen Denovan with a cheque donation in the amount of $3000, the same amount was also contributed by the Grenfell Lion’s Club.
“We just can’t thank these local organisations enough,” said Ms Denovan, “their generous donations will greatly benefit residents in our community by providing a new state-of-the-art treadmill that will be well utilised in the Weddin Day Therapy Program and further assist participants in maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle.”
The new treadmill will assist participants in maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle.
