In the League Tag the Girlannas won 34-6 whilst the Goannas triumphed in First Grade to the tune of 40-18.
LEAGUE TAG:
After a tight first half the Girlannas went to oranges leading 12-0 with some excellent defence by both teams.
The Grenfell ladies did not panic in the face of the strong Tigresses defence and showed plenty of patience in the second half to come away with the win in a good all round team effort.
Isabelle Holz scored 2 tries, kicked 5 goals and received 1 best and fairest point with the 3 points going to Breanna Anderson and the 2 to Caitlin Dixon.
Other try scorers were Zoe Gavin, Holly Bowerman, Casey Hewen, and Caitlin Dixon who was also the players player.
Dean Coldicott was able to recoup some of his calcutta outlay when Holly Bowerman crossed over for the first try and he collected $140.
FIRST GRADE:
The Goannas were never headed in this match after going to a early 12 nil lead and then in front by 22-10 at half time.
Grenfell needed their 12 point advantage because the Tigers came out in the second half and dominated the first 15 minutes through their slick backs.
This was a telling point in the game because the Tigers were only able to score an unconverted try during this period.
Possession turned around and the Goannas put on a 6 pointer and kicked a penalty goal to lead 30-14 with less than 15 minutes left on the clock.
Tempers flared with only 5 to go resulting in the sin binning of a player from each team and the send-off of Grenfell half back Ty Ashe.
Pete Frazer was the players player and the best and fairest points went to Joe Herden (3), Ben Abbott (2), and Jarryd Foley (1).
Tries were scored by Mitch Stevens (2), Phil Ingram, Ty Ashe, Sam Ingram, Jarryd Foley, and Joe Herden (jersey 9) who was also the first try scorer.
The Bromar syndicate of Zac Starr, James Hunter, and Steve Walker purchased jersey number 9 at the Calcutta and were rewarded with the $190.

REGARDING
BURRANGONG GAME:
This Sunday we travel over to Cranfield Oval at Young to take on the Burrangong Bears in League Tag (12.40pm) and First Grade (2.00pm).
Cranfield Oval is currently being redeveloped and at the direction of the local council cars will not be allowed inside the ground except for those displaying the relevant disabled cards.
After a promising pre-season the Burrangong League Tag team have suffered heavy losses to competition heavyweights Eugowra and Cargo and a close loss at Peak Hill.
The 2018 Burrangong First Grade squad is much stronger than in previous years as evidenced by narrow away losses at Cargo and Peak Hill.
The Goannas will need to be on their game against a bears outfit who will be out to impress in their first home outing of the season.
Grenfell supporters are invited to come along to Cranfield Oval at Young and cheer on the Goannas and Girlannas in what will no doubt be an exiting day of competitive Rugby League.
