David has a trip planned to Brisbane before travelling overseas to Wyoming and LA in the USA, and then to Cambodia. Farewell David, welcome back Anna.
GUMBOOT
COMPETITION: There wasn’t actually a gumboot competition, but the guy who was the MC for the fashion Parade at the Picnic Races said Banjo won the Gumboot Comp.
Banjo and his parents from the Blue Mountains and his grandparents make the Picnic Races an annual event and catch up with relatives in Grenfell. It would have been lovely, if sometime over the weekend Banjo actually required gum boots.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Hannah Birch, daughter of Kirsty Burn and Warren Birch was treated to a very special birthday dinner to celebrate her 8th birthday. A large group of family and friends enjoyed the evening at the Railway Hotel on Tuesday April 17.
MUMS’ NIGHT OUT: Lorene Hazell, Phoebe Baker, Melissa Martens, Belinda Mawhinney, Rachael Troy, Madeline Dombrain, Belinda Day and Emily Essex enjoyed a night out to dinner at the Railway Hotel on Saturday evening.
The girls often meet to enjoy a social evening ‘with no kids’ and leave them at home to have special time with their dads.
SCHOOL FRIENDS: Jen Napier (Spedding), Helen Corke (Curran), Melissa Freudenstein, Karen Hampton (Baker), Tanya Wilder (Griffin) and Maree Sweeting (Joyce) enjoyed a night out to dinner at the Chinese Happy Inn Restaurant on Saturday evening.
The girls, former students at THLHS Grenfell caught up for a fun night out.
ART EXHIBITION: Congratulations to local artists, Kathleen McCue, Nina Roderick and Allen Crowe on their outstanding exhibition now on display at the Grenfell Art Gallery.
The exhibition "Shared Observations” opened Tuesday April 17 and is on display until June 1. Each artist portrays different mediums ranging from portraits of both human and animal forms, photography, painting and sculptures. The exhibition is well worth a visit.
A large number of people were in attendance for the official opening including members of the Young Society of Artists and residents of the local MPS. Thank you to Gayle Weekes who organised the morning out for them.
Shirley Tognetti from the Grenfell Tourist and Information Centre introduced General Manager Glenn Carroll of the Weddin Shire to officially welcome the artists and guests. He called on Fr Allen Crowe’s sister Heather Ruhl from the Young Society of Artists to open the exhibition.
LUNCH ON THE LAWN: The Country Education Foundation Grenfell. Invite everyone to enjoy Lunch on the Lawn at the Grenfell Country Club from mid day on Saturday May 05.
Lunch will be served at 1pm. Tickets if purchased by tomorrow, April 30 are $40 p/p are available from Louisa’s Locker. There will be music, games and a mystery auction to support this wonderful foundation assisting country kids.
PLAYERS’ PLAYER: Following a win over Manildra 32-26 on Sunday Grenfell Goannas player Daniel Harveyson was named ‘Players’ Player’ by his teammates.
This honour means the winner of this award must wear the Fur Stole. Dan (in his fur) was photographed with some of his team mates; Mitch Stevens, Blake Southwell, Ben Abbott, Dean Coldicott, Sebastion Holz and Jaykob celebrating their win.
