Being a 100 per cent Australian Bushman’s Camp and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) event the day will bring you bigger and better action from competitors all over the state. If you missed out last year then you wont want to miss this one, make it a day to remember.
The ABCRA accredit some of the biggest rodeos in Australia including Coonamble, Mareeba, Tamworth and many more.
Gates will open at 10am with the main performance to take place under lights at 5pm. Full bar facilities, food stalls and entertainment will be available throughout the day, there is also camping facilities available as well as children’s entertainment. This is a strictly no BYO event.
Events will include:
Bull ride: The open bull ride is an event like no other where the cowboy has to hang onto a 1000 kg Brahman bull with just one hand for a full eight seconds.
Saddle Bronc: The oldest event in rodeo where the competitor sits in a specially designed saddle made for riding bucking broncs.
Bareback: Contestants in the bareback bronc ride use a suitcase like handle that is called a rigging which is cinched to the horses middle.
Barrel Racing: A popular all female event where a highly trained horse is guided around a sharp course of three barrels in a triangle pattern.
The event is won by the girl and horse team whom finishes the course in the quickest time.
Poley Buck Jump: Designed to test a man’s horsemanship.
The cowboy has to ride a bronco for 8 seconds in a normal every day stock saddle and crack a stock whip to score extra points. A very challenging event.
The committee wish to thank their sponsors, without generous support from the local community events such as this would not be able to go ahead.
In 2017 the committee held the first Rodeo in Grenfell in over 20 years with great success. With over one thousand spectators through the gate and over one hundred competitors from around the state competing for over $4000 in prize money.
We are so thrilled to host the first Rodeo in Grenfell in over 20 years with great success in 2017. With over one thousand spectators through the gate and over one hundred competitors from around the state.
