The Panthers took the field with a very different and younger side from the previous year. Right from the kick off it was clear that this was going to be a tough game. The game was played in 20 min quarters because of the heat, the first 20 both teams went hard at each other with some big hits and it was Harden who drew first blood with their inside center hitting a gap out wide to cross the line untouched. With the conversion successful Harden went to a 7 point lead.
The next 40 minutes both teams tried their hardest to crack the defensive line. Grenfell’s forward pack set up a good ball for the backs to attack out wide but simple mistakes meant the Panthers would come away empty handed. With 20 minutes remaining and both sides feeling the pinch it came down to who could take their chances. With 5 minutes remaining Harden got a penalty 20 metres out and kicked it over for a 10-0 lead. This would be the final score.
This week we are up against Cootamundra. This game will be played at Wallendbeen because Coota are in the process of rebuilding their change rooms and club house. Kick off is at 3.15 pm on Saturday. It would be great to see a good crowd go for the short drive and support the Panthers. Don’t forget the club is still collecting old batteries which can be dropped at Olivers Hardware.
