First I would like to say that I find Polly Crackers comments enlightening and I agree with his sentiments.
On various trips around regional Australia one thing that comes to notice is that even the smallest of villages and towns have Community halls.
I cannot believe that council would consider pulling down a community hall in Grenfell that does not belong to a church or school and can be used on a Sunday at a reasonable rate.
Having used this hall for exhibitions for the Henry Lawson Festival, I find the building accommodating and adequate for these purposes.
We pride ourselves in Grenfell as being a Heritage town and I cannot believe that the removal of the foundation stone laid by Lady Baden Powell would not come under this banner!
Many children of this town have attended Guides and Scouts, including my own granddaughter, and the site of the existing hall is most convenient to schools and library.
It will be a sad day if we cannot provide this facility.
I am sure there could be other appropriate sites for TAFE and having attended a few courses myself, I cannot see for the life of me what is wrong with the existing site - or is it a case of politicians big noting themselves at our expense.
What is happening Council, surely we have a right to know.
Yours faithfully
Patricia Soley
