Prior to the AGM a NSW Farmers representative will be on hand to speak about the Current Ovine Johns Disease (OJD) review which is underway at present. The reviews purpose is to look into the ways and means being used to control and measure the spread of OJD in the Australian sheep flock.
These practices include vaccination (Gudair), stock movement and record keeping, abattoir surveillance and the various interstate regulations. A report on the evaluation of these practices and measures used to control OJD is due to be handed down soon.
Also on the night Local Land Services representatives from Forbes will be in attendance to talk about sheep foot rot issues in the area as well as fox baits, wild pig and wild dogs, rabbit control and the rapidly increasing kangaroo population. The LLS representatives will also speak on the updated Bio-security and Vendor Dec. compliance introduced last October. These speakers will be followed by a question and answer session. Wesfarmers Federation Insurance area representative Cindy Gilchrist will be attending to answer any insurance questions and concerns.
The meeting is open to all members and non-members. A light supper will be provided after the meeting.
