Last Saturday the Grenfell Goannas Poker Run was held for the 5th consecutive year and it was a huge success. With 186 registrations, our best yet, the riders booked out pubs and the motel, camped at the caravan park and stayed with family and friends so they could come on a great day out.

Registrations took place at the Bowling Club from 8am with a slow start but took off later in the morning. Riders were able to grab an egg and bacon roll and a hot coffee or cold drink from the Bowling Club staff to start the day. It was great to see so many locals come down and have a look at all the bikes on display and with 186 registrations on the day there was a huge variety of bikes to see.
After a briefing from Peter Harveyson at 9:45am, everyone got ready to go, and after a lap of the main street, we headed off to our first stop at Wallendbeen. Once we had all arrived and the card draws taken place, we then went to Coolac. The Beehive Hotel in Coolac put on a fabulous lunch for us and gave everyone a change to relax in the shade for a little while. After lunch we set off for draw number three at the Wombat Pub and then onto Bribbaree for the fourth.
The last stop was the Grenfell Bowling Club and once the last card draw took place everyone went home for a refresh before coming back to the Bowling Club for some dinner.
The winner of the $500 prize money, generously donated by Western Ranges Motorcycles in Orange was won by David Rouse. David is a regular visitor to our Poker Run and he was very happy with his $500 win for the best poker hand. Our major raffle was won by Sebastian Holz. The lucky door prizes went to a range of people both local and away and all were very happy. Thank you to Jenn from the Grenfell Record for joining us for the announcement and taking some great photos.
Once all the announcements had taken place, our live entertainment “Barabbas” took to the stage and they were amazing! Thank you to all the locals who came down for the great night and for all the positive feedback.
First, a big thank you to all the participants whether you were on a bike, in the bus or in a car. There is no Poker Run without you all. Thank you to our major sponsor and all of our lucky door prize sponsors.
Thanks to Bianca, the staff and committee of the Grenfell Blowing Club for their continued support and assistance, from the breakfast until late into the night.
Thanks to the Wallenbeen Hotel, The Beehive Hotel Coolac, the Wombat Hotel and the Bribbaree Hotel. I think we can all agree that everything went off smoothly at each stop and congratulations to the people who won the bottle of grog donated by each pub on the way.
Thanks to Melinda Hewen, Bethany Eyles, Lynette Dumbrell, Susan Hewen and Shelly Ryan for the card draws at each stop, Terry and Deidre Carroll for providing and driving the bus, and Deidre for taking photos and some great video footage. Michelle Rowan, and Belinda Power for being our ever-reliable back up and breakdown crew and Warren Shaw for the use of his trailer.
We would also like to thank Maurice (Moe) Reynolds, Nat Makin, Casey Hewen, Alan Holmes, Paul Gavin and Breanna Anderson for being our spotters and Gary "Nails" Hewen and Joan Eppelstun for selling our raffle tickets.
Brent Logan from “Rascality” came along and took some amazing photos during the ride. All the photos are now on the Facebook page for everyone to see. Thanks Brent.
"Barabbas" were awesome! What a great night of live music. Check out their Facebook page and see if they are coming to a venue near you.
Hope we didn't forget anyone, but all help was very much appreciated. Hope to see you all next year!
