The SES are to be commended for organising a community meeting at Bimbi on March 7 to discuss the extended flooding of the village caused by fencing erected by Local Land Services in 2014.
The Weddin Shire appreciates the problem with the Engineer and 3 Councillors attending. The Bimbi community know what the problem is and the Weddin Shire has had community meetings with Local Land Services and twice requested the fence be removed. A class action was suggested but how is this to be funded. In spite of all the nonsense provided by a dysfunctional LLS to justify the fence, it serves no purpose and in any sensible situation would simply be pulled down. The National Party continually make a complete farce of community consultation.
One home that had never before been flooded was inundated and the owners made an insurance claim. Their insurance premium has risen from $792 per year to $2544 per year. This is an opportunity for local member Steph Cooke to fix something.
Sincerely
John Niven

The Easter Music Extravaganza on March 18 at St John’s Anglican Church Young is on this Sunday.
The Hilltops Choir’s soloist for the afternoon is our very own talented soprano Julie O’Connor. Born in Young, Julie has sung as soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Canberra Concert Orchestra and also played the role of Despina in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte. Come along and enjoy! The concert starts at 3pm with afternoon tea provided at the conclusion. This is a great musical treat for a gold coin donation.
