Western Challenge

Last Sunday, at a very warm Canowindra, 12 Grenfell Girlannas competed in the League Tag Western Challenge. Twenty one teams took part  from Woodbridge Cup, Group 10, Group 11, New Era Cup, and Canberra.

Grenfell drew a tough pool and although they were unable to taste victory they had two narrow losses to Tuggeranong Bushrangers (4-0) and Trundle Boomers (6-4) and competed strongly against Cowra Magpies going down 14-4.

In the fourth game the Girlannas went down 18 nil to Group 10 heavyweights Orange Hawks who were defeated in the final by Bathurst St Pats. Our girls had an enjoyable day and it was a good hit out for them prior to the start of the season proper.

Coach Wayne Holz was more than pleased with their efforts and in particular the way that they hung in all day with only one reserve in the trying conditions.
