Zac had participants running, dodging, passing and practicing their tackling techniques.
The day finished with a huge game of kids versus parents touch footy.
Even with a number of parents finding some extremely rusty skills the kids were very comfortable winners!
“It is just fantastic to see the passion that these Grenfell kids have for the game,
“I’ve been to couple of schools this week and the excitement is visible, even kids who have not played before were super keen to give it a go,
“I’m happy to support the Grenfell Junior Rugby Union club who are trying to spread the great game of rugby to more local families, clubs like this are helping to keep junior rugby union thriving.” said Zac.
Sprinklers were needed at the end of the session to cool off.
The afternoon gave the Junior Rugby Club a chance to start registrations, welcome new families to the club and get preparations under way for the rugby season ahead.
Newly elected Junior Club President Sam Allen said,
“We are really grateful for Zac’s enthusiasm and for travelling all the way from Wagga for our family fun day event and holding a junior development clinic for the kids,
“A big thank you also to Sally Metcalf who organised for Zac to visit and all the parents who came along and helped cook, serve the BBQ and participate,
“This has been a great start to the Junior Rugby Union season for all involved.”
Training for the junior competition will commence this afternoon, Wednesday March 14, at 6pm.
We look forward to seeing interested players come along, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask one of our friendly coaches or officials who will be only too happy to assist.
Please be reminded that new players are always welcome so come along and join the Grenfell Junior Rugby Union club for a fantastic, fun 2018 season.
