Women’s tackle rugby league: Last Sunday at Lawson Park the Woodbridge Cup Women’s U18s (9 a-side) and opens took on their Group 10 counterparts in full contact tackle rugby league. A good crowd turned up to see two entertaining games of footy in what where tough conditions for the players due to the mercury hitting 34 degrees. The U18s Woodbridge girls came away with an impressive 32-10 win with all three Grenfell representatives Isabelle Holz, Bridget Baker and Breanna Anderson acquitting themselves well with the latter crossing the stripe for a try. In the opens game Caitlin Dixon didn’t take a backward step against an experienced Group 10 team and all the Woodbridge Cup girls tried hard and were far from disgraced in going down 50 to nil. This Saturday both Woodbridge Cup teams travel to Manildra to take on Group 11.
