GOANNA’S POKER RUN: What a great weekend and what a boost for Grenfell. The 5th annual Grenfell Goanna’s Poker Run was heralded a huge success. Congratulations to the organisers on a well planned trip. Many of the riders have been coming to Grenfell since the inception of the run and are almost ‘locals’. Once again we took the bus with around twenty one passengers and met up with riders at the various check in points. Whilst on the bus, we learnt some new songs, courtesy of the young folk who came along.
After leaving Grenfell, the first checkpoint was at the Wallendbeen Hotel – a beautiful spot with upstairs and downstairs bars. Coolac, via back Gundagai Road and Muttama was the stop for lunch. The next checkpoint was at Wombat – another little old pub where the staff welcomed everyone and then onto Bribbaree before returning to Grenfell. We traversed around 360kms.
David Rouse from Vacy in Dungog Shire in the Hunter region was the Poker hand winner of the day. As well as the prize money he was also the recipient of a flask. He was delighted with it as he said “It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold. I have two cups of coffee in this and icy pole!” I was able to get a photo of him on the trip – being very responsible – with a bottle of water.
Another rider Steve Kibble with his red and green Ducati would not part with it, but let Terry pretend to have a ride.
