I am happy to report that last year finished on a high note with a our annual Christmas party at the Shed. A large crowd was in attendance and by all accounts everyone had a great time.
The first activity for the year was a good old fashioned clean up of both inside the shed and around the grounds. Some four utility and trailer loads made their way to the tip. The inside has been totally re-arranged with ceilings painted (thanks Rodney), shelves cleaned out and kitchen refurbished. The workshops were also inspected to ensure they complied with all regulation safety standards.
The first MAJOR event for the year is fast approaching. Yes, you guessed it - the Men's Shed would like to inform the good folk of Grenfell that they will be holding their annual fabulous musical jam night at the Shed on Saturday, February 24, from 7pm. This event has become very popular and just seems to get better every year. Community members are invited to attend and take part, you will have a good time whether you can play an instrument, sing or just want to listen, enjoy some company and have a good chin wag. The evening is a great excuse for muso's to have a bash or a sing, come down and join in the fun, you will be most welcome. A PA will be provided so all you need to bring is yourself, an instrument or some supper and maybe a drink or two, although coffee and tea will be available, there is no entry fee, the event is open to all.
We will also be taking orders for the Men's Shed CD recorded last year titled "Sunshine on the Peaks,” readers may recall the project being reported. The project was organised to bring shed members together with youths from THLHS Band to write and record a song that depicted the trouble's of males of all ages, particularly older men who suffer in their journey through life. The project consisted of Shed members Ted Franks, Phil Diprose, Geoff Earl and Peter Soley. The THLHS contingent consisted of 12 lads from Mr McKnight's music class, along with talented Brodie McKnight himself. Extra vocals were added by Clr Jan Parlett and Clr Carly Brown. The project came about by the united efforts of Arts Out West and well-known Bathurst singer/songwriter Abby Smith. Discs are also available at THLHS, Council or the Library.
