On Saturday February 2 the team played the Canowindra Eagles at the Canowindra High School Oval with a very close result. Standout bowlers for Grenfell were Bill Trevillion 1 / 2 and Amelia Squires 1/18, although the entire team bowled very well. High scoring batters were Max Brenner on 19 and Orlando Joyce not out on 10, this was the first round for 2018 and the team showed lots of improvements. It was a very enjoyable game that was played with great team spirit, the final score being Grenfell 6/76 just nudged out by Canowindra on 2/87. Player of the match was newcomer Oliver Dun who received a Subway voucher, well done.
On Saturday February 10 the side took on the Cowra Sixers at Rodwell Oval. Standout bowlers for Grenfell were Bill Trevillion 1/8, Marco Joyce 1/7 and Olly Dun 1/0. Highest scoring batters were Max Brenner with 4 N/O and Bill Trevillion on 4. Giving away sundries of 69 combined with a loss of wickets early in the chase made for a very hard days cricket for the side. Heat also played it’s part but at the end of the day the team came away with a big loss, the final score being Grenfell 7/32, Cowra Sixers 3/107. Player of the match was Bill Trevillion who received a Subway voucher. Better luck next week Eels. This Saturday the team takes on Grenfell Sixers at Lawson Oval #2.
