Work has commenced on the project thanks to a $950,000 boost from the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund that was secured by Mr McCormack.
Weddin Shire Council will also contribute $1.8 million toward the $2.75m cost.
Shire mayor Clr Mark Liebich is thrilled that construction has begun and says the new medical centre hub will provide a superior health care service for residents of the Weddin Shire for many years to come.
“Towns like Grenfell need to have great medical facilities to attract a range of professional specialists and practitioners, this new hub building will provide those resources for doctors to practice in Grenfell.” said Clr Liebich.
Minister McCormack said “This is a significant day for the residents of Grenfell and the Central West,
“The Liberals and Nationals’ Government is making good on it’s commitment to provide better medical pathways for regional Australians.”
Site Manager John Anderson said it will be a twelve month build with the next step being the construction of bricks to be laid around the footings.
Upon completion of the brickwork the base will be filled with gravel and then many of the services will be installed including electrical and plumbing followed by the full concrete slab being poured.
The Record will keep residents up to date with the construction of the project as each stage takes place.
