The Men's Summer Night Tennis has commenced when Round 1 was played on Tuesday. Three fill-ins were necessary to play the first round which saw Anthony Wilson and his fill-in for Grant Fisher, Leigh Taylor top score after winning 29 games.

Anthony and Leigh in their first set levelled the score 4 all with Matthew Clarke and Pat Hazell.

The top pair went on to win their other four sets 6/2, 7/1, 6/2, 6/2. Well played, Anthony and Leigh.

The next best players were Charles Harvey and Mark Liebich, winning a total of 25 games after losing their last set 2/6 against Anthony and Leigh.

Charles and Mark played consistent tennis to win their other four sets 6/2, 6/2, 5/3, 6/2, a good effort. Matthew Clarke who was a fill in for Andrew Bucknell and Pat Hazell won 22 games for the night. They only lost one set 2/6, levelled two sets 4 all and won the other two sets 6/2, 6/2.

Danny Edwards and Arnold Brown battled away in their sets to capture a total of 16 games. Sets were 4/4, 3/5, 3/5, 2/6 and 4/4.

Two pairs finished the night winning 14 games each. They were Grahame Edwards and John Walmsley and Graham Watt and his fill-in for Hugh Moffitt, Ben Walker.

Round 2 of the Men's Summer Competition will be played next Tuesday night, weather permitting.


The Mixed Teams Night Competition will get underway next Wednesday, February 14 commencing at 7.30 pm. 

A pleasing number of 8 mixed teams have entered this popular competition.

Play in the competition should be keen and competitive and also a lot of fun. Teams consist of 2 men and 2 ladies.


The famous Tennis Quiz Night will be held at the Grenfell Country Club on Thursday, March 1.

The Tennis Quiz Night is one of the longest running quiz nights providing heaps of fun. Supper will be served at the conclusion of the quiz session.
