Michael Mitton, owner of QA Concrete in Grenfell says that after making some inquiries on the day the concrete was due to be poured he discovered that the contract had been offered to a business out of town and that he had not even been offered a chance to submit a quote.

“I knew this was going to be a big job,” said Mr Mitton “and to find out council had not even considered my company for the contract is disappointing, I spoke with members of council as to why my company had not even been consulted and no-one was able to offer an explanation, we have simply been excluded,” Mr Mitton said.

Council’s General Manager, Glenn Carroll, has responded to Mr Mitton’s claims saying, “An issue has arisen with Council utilising Vision Concrete to supply the concrete for the new Medical Centre. Two quotes were obtained with the decision to award the supply of the concrete to Vision Concrete based on previous experiences with their company and in particular with the Grenfell Aquatic Centre development. In hindsight, Mr Mitton should have been afforded the opportunity to quote and for this I apologise to Mr Mitton. Council has had an excellent relationship with Mr Mitton and I trust that this relationship can continue well into the future.”
