Of these, Steve Galvin and Andrew Armstrong reigned supreme, winning all of their five matches to become the tournament’s major winners.
Rob Coleman and Barry Bradtke were also in the prize money as first round winners.
Congratulations boys. Well done!
Social Bowls
There was a good roll-up of social bowlers again this week with 56 players taking part.
Prize winners this week were: Chooks – David “Inghams” Ballard (3), John Joyce, Andrew Armstrong and Rodney O’Neill; Market Night Vouchers – Rob Chambers, Steve Galvin, Lindsay Ballard, Greg Fanning, Mark McSpadden and Barry Jones; Free games – Nevin Hughes, Lindsay Ballard, Clive Anderson (2), Barry Bradtke and John Joyce.
Club Championships
In the only championship match played this week, Ross and Tracey Hunter recorded a convincing win over Denis and Julie Hughes 47-6 in the Mixed Pairs competition.
As we enter a new year, the bowls committee is keen to see the 2017 championships finalised and bowlers are asked to arrange and complete their matches as soon as possible.
Pennants practice
As a lead-up to the 2017 Zone 4 Pennants season, which gets under way on Sunday, March 4, a series of skills-developing drills and exercises began at the club last night.
The practice nights will continue for the next six weeks and all bowlers interested in pennants selection are urged to take part. The sessions begin at 6.30pm each Tuesday and will be followed by a short game.
Canowindra Bowls tournaments
Canowindra club has a big weekend of bowls coming up on the weekend of 27/28 January.
The Ron Worboys Memorial Men’s Pairs will be held on Saturday, with $1020 in prize money on offer. Entry is $40 per team, which includes lunch.
Sunday is Anniversary Triples Day, with a further $1080 in prize money up for grabs. Entry is $60 per team, including lunch.

Golden Eagle Classic Pairs
Surprisingly, there are still vacancies for teams in this prestigious tournament, which will be held at Orange City Bowling Club over four days – Monday, February 19 to Thursday, February 22, with prize money and trophies totalling $20,000.

Jackpot
The jackpot of $144 has gone off this week and lucky bowlers John King, Gary Pipe and Keith Brus will each receive $48. The required combination was +2 on end 10 on an even-numbered rink. Next week the jackpot will kick off again at $59.
