Families will be able to claim the rebate on items such as sports registration and membership costs, as well as swimming lesson fees.
Parents will be able to register online and can take a sports voucher to a registered sports club or provider to receive their rebate.
From January 31, parents will be able to claim up to $100 per school child, per calendar year, as a voucher to reduce the cost of sport registration or membership fees for after-school and weekend sport, and active recreation activities.
The voucher can be used for registration or membership fees for structured activities of no less than eight weeks’ duration that provide a moderate to vigorous level of physical activity, for example: sporting pursuits, swimming lessons, structured fitness program, outdoor education programs, approved active recreation (dance etc), equipment ordinarily provided by the provider on registration for competition.
Please note that vouchers cannot be split between multiple clubs or registrations, and therefore you may not be able to claim the full $100.
More details on what the voucher can be used for and how to apply is available on the NSW Office of Sport website https://sport.nsw.gov.au/sectordevelopment/activekids
