LAWN BOWLS: Grenfell bowlers contemplate their next move in a recent event at Grenfell Bowling club.

Club Championships:

The only championship game played this week was a Mixed Pairs match on Saturday between Pat and Keith Brus and Ross and Tracey Hunter.

The scores remained fairly even throughout the early part of the game and after 15 ends, Pat and Keith led narrowly by 11-10.

This proved to be the turning point in the match and a resurgence by the Hunters saw them win the remaining five ends, racking up 13 shots to take out the match 23-11.

Social Bowls: The mild and pleasant early summer weather has enticed social bowlers out in force over the past week, with a total of 60 enjoying a game.

In addition, 26 bowlers turned out for our mixed twilight bowls on Saturday evening, making a grand total of 86 bowlers – Great to see!

Prize winners this week were: Hams – Steve Galvin, Andrew Armstrong, David Frost and Graham Sadler. Chooks – David Frost, Keith Brus, Denis Hughes, Denis Fuller (2) and John Dumbrell.

Market Night vouchers – John King, Ross Hunter, Rob Coleman, Gary Pipe, Nev Coleman and David Hancock. Free games – Ted Pickwell, Andrew Armstrong, Greg Fanning, Mark McSpadden, John Joyce and George Dumbrell.

Christmas hams: If you haven’t won a ham yet, do not despair – there are still eight beautiful half-legs left.

As well as our usual prizes, two hams will be up for grabs next Sunday, December 17; and one ham on Wednesdays, December 13 and 20, and Fridays, December 15 and 22.

In addition, the club has two hams to give away at our Twilight bowls next Saturday, December 16, which will be a mixed bowls evening with both men and women participating.

So if you would like to win a ham for Christmas or be among the many regular prize winners, why not join us for a great afternoon or evening of social bowls.

All you need to do is phone the club on the day on 6343 1656 by 12.30pm for a 1pm start, or by 3.30pm for a 4pm start in the twilight competition.

Jackpot: The combination required to win this week’s jackpot of $80 was -5 on End 20 on an even rink.

As there were no winners, next week’s jackpot will be worth $140.
