Fun, fellowship and beautiful Italian cuisine was the order of the night plus three wonderful speakers to entertain the audience.

The Grenfell Bowling Club was decorated with an Italian theme and place mats depicted the outstanding menu of Bolognaise arancinis with carrot and pernod puree, Insalata caprese with pomegranate glaze, Ricotta and kale cannelloni with cherry tomato and pea sugo, regiano, Pork belly with wet saffron, blue cheese polenta, wild mushrooms ragu, Deconstructed khalua tiramisu pannacotta and Cheese plates.

The chief organisers of the themed evening were Rotarians Jill Hodgson, Roma Sinclair and Sue Armstrong.

The brilliant guest speakers were Roma Sinclair who spoke on Dr Quinto Ercole and his family (reported in Grenfell Record on Wednesday), Mary Dodd from Harden, an Australian born Italian who spoke of her life and only speaking Italian till she attended school and our own Jenn Graham who gave an interesting talk on her trip to Italy as young tourist.

Visiting Rotarians, Friends of Rotary, Probus, members of the Lions Club and local guests enjoyed the evening.

Rotary President Rev Ross Craven thanked the guest speakers and organisers and presented them with an appreciation gift.

CHRISTMAS GET

TOGETHER:

The English/History faculty team of Maree Sutor, Loren Wilkinson, Tracey Cartwright, Emma Griffin, Sarah Higgs and Marg Lynch from The Henry Lawson High School enjoyed a pre-Christmas evening at Fettlers on Friday evening December 01.

Also enjoying a night out wining and dining celebrating someone’s birthday were Roslyn Whitechurch, Katie Blair, Emily Brown, Francesca Taylor and Hilary McKellar.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT:  The heavy deluge on Friday evening did not deter Leonie Pye, Julie Smith, Coral Pace, Karen Burn, Margaret Anderson and Karen Makin.

Each year the great friends enjoy a pre-Christmas dinner and exchanged gifts. Naturally they could not go home early, as it was too wet!

FAMILY NIGHT OUT: Siblings George Hampton, Joan McSpadden and Shirley Hazelgrove organise a family pre Christmas dinner each year.

George’s son Allan and his wife, Joan’s daughters Jenny and Tracie and their husbands Ian Armstrong and Glen Ivins and Joan’s grandson David Armstrong and Shirley’s husband Barry all were in attendance at the Railway Hotel for this special get together.
