I write to you to express our sincere gratitude on behalf of all the families who attended last week’s Meet and Greek events and once again it was the wonderful Grenfell community through a team of fantastic organisers and hardworking volunteers who made the weekend a success.
The common theme was “let’s celebrate not just one part of the community but let ‘s celebrate how we all became one community.”
We thank the Grenfell Record, always part of the community and always recording events that make Grenfell a good community.
We would like to thank the organisers of this year’s Meet and Greek event, Margery Nicoll, Geoff Nicoll and Jan Parlett who again invested their time and money into celebrating the diversity of the community of Grenfell and in the words of a famous son of Grenfell – “we can’t get over that “
Thank you the wonderful Meet and Greek Sponsors - Central NSW Business HQ, Blue Still Distillery Young, Guy Hannaford, Margery Nicoll, Geoff Nicoll and Jan Parlett.
We would also like to acknowledge the help and support of mayor Mark Liebich who always comes out to support community events.
We were privileged this year to have the authors of “Greek Cafes and Milk Bars of Australia” Effie Alexakis and Leonard Janiszewski as special guests.
Their public lecture at the Grenfell Library auditorium was amazing - wonderful photographs by Effie and a fast paced, jam packed, informative lecture by Leonard.
We sincerely thank Effie and Leonard and we were all spellbound by their lecture.
We thank George Raftopoulos who was shadowed by a film crew from the ABC (for an upcoming documentary on talented artists) highlighted that talent and art often are embodied in the spirit of a community.
We would like to thank the volunteers and contributors – Liz and Glenn Carroll, Mareea Brown, Peter Grossman, Hugh Moffitt, Niki Papadimitriou, Warwick Crampton, Mardie Bucknell, Ross Hunter, Pam Livingstone, David Churchill, Verdel McClean, Auburn Carr, Josh Dawes, Ngaire Soley, Deidre Carroll and Jenn Graham.
The Grenfell Bowling Club and their staff Bianca, Blake, Marc the chef, Stephen Galvin, Barry Bradtke and Theodora Volti and Craig Lawler for the fabulous entertainment.
Country hospitality never seems to end and as we said our farewells at Jan Parlett’s Country Experience out came Geoff Parlett’s amazing scones and a selection of biscuits and cakes that made it hard for us to leave.
Thank you to the fantastic community of Grenfell
Regards
Con Efrossynis
