This year the Grenfell Public School turned 150 years-old, students and staff celebrated this sesquicentenary milestone with an array of activities for the whole community to enjoy. ‘From Slate to Smart Board’ traces the development of public education in Grenfell from the "Old Bark School" (by Henry Lawson) built of bark and poles on the corner of Camp and Forbes St in 1867, through the years from 1871 when the brick and weatherboard school on the Rose and Weddin St corner was established, until the present. The Melyra St site was opened in 1965 and is now surrounded by gardens, playing fields, tennis and netball courts, covered outdoor areas and an assembly hall. The Art Gallery is located in Main Street inside the community hub, contact 02 6343 2059 Website: www.grenfell.org.au/attractions/grenfell-art-gallery.
