Harrison’s ‘Brevities’
Some more advice, tips and home-spun philosophy on lawn bowls by champion of last century, the late RT (Dick) Harrison:
“Insure against risk with a bowl at the back. Flukes are the sparks that fly from the anvils of uncertainty. Be insured – the premium is low.”
“A bowl will act only in accordance with what you do to it. Dump it, and it becomes a dull leaden thing. Spin it, and life springs into action. Wobble it, and anything can happen.”
“Congratulating an opponent immediately following defeat and the natural disappointment it often entails, is a courtesy indispensable to the game.”
Bowls Jackpot
This week’s bowls jackpot stood at $257 and required +7 shots on end 8 to win.
This week it failed to go off and next week’s jackpot will stand at $304.
A reminder that Major/Minor Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Mixed Fours draws are on the board and game are to be played as soon as possible by mutual agreement.
