The official opening night was held on Tuesday evening, October 24, and was well attended by members of the community.
The idea of the exhibition came from a staff member saying “wouldn’t it be great to hold an art show and showcase the children’s work.”
Director of the centre Sharon Grant then put the idea to the rest of the staff and they all agreed it would be a great event.
After finding a venue and approaching council for approval the pre-school invited all the schools within the shire as well as the local playgroup to exhibit their student’s art work.
There is a lot of work and commitment involved from staff of all the schools. The centre always needs a hand with this big job and they rely on their committee and parents’ help for it to run smoothly.
“Getting the children to paint is no bother as most on them seem to enjoy it.” said Mrs Grant.
“You may look at some paintings and ask what is it, however when you work with children you listen and talk to them about what they have done and when you look at the painting you see what they have painted. Each piece of art they do tells a story which is worth listening to.”
An art Exhibition needs an official opening and Brent Logan was invited to open the 7th annual Little Picasso Art Show at the community hub last Tuesday night.
Brent Logan was born and raised in Grenfell having completed year 12 at the Henry Lawson High School in 2012. He also attended the Grenfell Preschool.
He then went on to further his studies at Charles Sturt University in Wagga and completed a master in photography.
Brent began work at channel 9 in Orange as a TV news cameraman before deciding to return to Grenfell to start his own photography business called Rascality.
Brent has had his art work displayed during the bespoke exhibition at the Wagga Art Gallery.
Brent has also been the Statuette winner at the Henry Lawson Festival the past two years for his photography.
Having experience in both photography and cinematography since he was 15 years-old Brent has worked across New South Wales and beyond.
He is a portrait photographer specialising in weddings and production and is now available locally for all types of events shooting both stills and video.
The Pre-school staff would like to thank Brent for his official Little Picasso exhibition opening duties.
