Their last reunion in Grenfell was held in 2013. A number of reunions have been held at various places since the group finished school.
Former students travelled from Sydney, Canberra, Murrumbateman, South Coast, Blue Mountains and Brisbane, to meet up with the Grenfell connection.
Fun and fellowship was the order of the day with many stories and memories relived throughout the day.
The courtyard was decorated in school colours with many photographs lining the walls.
The group enjoyed finger food early in the afternoon, followed by a beautiful meal provided by Carol Logan.
Many speeches were made; Joyce Minette (Matthews) thanked everyone for attending and for their input for the successful day.
James Ingrey and Joyce Minette were called upon to cut the reunion cake depicting the school colours made and decorated by Sharyn Bradtke.
BAPTISM: Congratulations to Hannah Elizabeth daughter of Jeremy and Erin Ray who received the sacrament of baptism during Mass on Sunday morning with Father Paletasala (Pale) Leota officiating.
The Rays who now live in Dubbo returned to Grenfell for the baptism as their first child Mitchell was baptised in St Joseph’s.
Godparents are Greg Dial, Nichole Clark, David Gablonski and Melissa Ray.
Hannah’s grandparents are Stephen Ray, Gaye Jones, and Tom and Colleen Gablonski and proud great grandmother is Carol Jones.
Following the baptism, family and friends met at the Grenfell Motel for a light luncheon and celebration.
WELCOME BACK: Michael and Helen Reidy and their family Georgia, Kaitlin and Alex returned to Grenfell over the long weekend. Whilst home they visited the family home at “Woodville” Bribbaree and enjoyed a visit to the Bribbaree show.
Helen’s father, the late Arch Caldwell was a former resident at the Grenfell MPS. The Reidy family, who lived and worked in Doha in the Middle East, now reside at Roseville Chase in Sydney whilst Helen's sister Kathy Harding lives in Port Macquarie.
CLASS OF '65: “The third Class of 65 HLHS“ reunion held at the Grenfell Country Club was a huge success over the October long-weekend!
The first reunion was held in 1992 with 114 former students attending and local band, "The Uncalled Four" re-forming for the night to provide age-appropriate music!
The second was held in 2000 and 51 ex-students attended, and in 2017 there were again 51 students in attendance. School friends became re-acquainted, with many stories from the past being told. (And some of them were even true!) Thanks must go to the organisers of the weekend, Carole Baldwin, Rhonda O'Brien and Gail Smith for their months of hard work leading up to the weekend as well as their efforts on Saturday and Sunday, ex-captains Lyn Hoy and Max Hall presented Rhonda and Carole with flowers in appreciation.
Thanks also to Harvey Mathews for his extremely efficient MC'ing of the evening. Ex-students travelled from Sydney and the North and South coast of NSW, Vic, ACT and Qld to attend, ending the weekend with a barbecue which everyone agreed was a fitting end to the best reunion so far!
