Huge crowds turned out for the special occasion in their finest attire, the Fashions on the Field were once again highly contested with the following results:
Most Outstanding Hat: Renee Lyzun, Best Dressed Couple: Amber Atkins/Reece Reid, Best Dressed Gent: George Small, Most Elegant Lady: Laura Elphick, Fashion Filly: Sophie Mitton, Junior Girl: Maddison Knight, Tiny Tot Girl: Maegan Taylor, Tiny Tot Boy: Hudson Forde, Novelty: Paul Kennelly of Canberra, congratulations to all the recipients.
The Grenfell Town and District band once again entertained racegoers with the Grenfell Lion’s Club providing entertainment for the children.
The feature race on the day, The Grenfell Cup (2000 mtrs), saw six starters with the winner being Canberra trained ‘Megawatt’ ridden by jockey Simon Miller and trained by Luke Pepper.
‘Megawatt’ is owned by Gold Class Racing under the management of Mrs S G Mcguinness.
This race was sponsored by the Railway Hotel along with special guests the Knight, Griffiths and Fountain Families who returned home to Grenfell for the special sesquicentenary event.
