WEDDING BELLS: Simone Ryan and Graham Robinson were married at Graham’s father, Don Robinson’s property, "Glenore" Holy Camp Road, Grenfell on Saturday September 16. A reception followed at the showground pavilion. The weather was exceptionally beautiful and with the Canola in bloom and Weddin Mountains as a backdrop everything was picture perfect. The showground pavilion was beautifully decorated by friends and family. Catering done by Bill and Pete Theodousio and Peter Robinson, Carol Logan, Linda Evers and Lyn Martens were on hand to serve the meal. The newly-weds said “There are simply no words we could ever say that could come close to thanking everyone who came to help us celebrate our wedding with us.

This last week has been super busy setting up and transforming the venue from a showground pavilion into a magical scene. It was a mammoth effort and we could not have done any of it without the super human efforts of our friends.” Donna Gill Michael Gill Shayne and Jenny for pitching in and helping with set up and pack up...it was all appreciated. JOCKEY CLUB: The Grenfell Jockey Club’s Henry Lawson Loaded Dog and Cup Day will be held tomorrow Saturday September 23. This year marks the sesquicentenary (150 years) of racing in Grenfell. Many descendants of committee members of the early years of racing will return to Grenfell for this historic occasion, including members of the Griffiths, Fountain and Knight families.
Memorabilia will be on display for all to enjoy. The track and surrounds are in a magnificent condition, with a beautiful crop of Canola in the centre and around. Members of the Jockey Club, the Trust and wonderful volunteers have been working hard to make sure everything will be spot on for the day.
As well as racing there are many prizes up for grabs with fashions on the field. If you wish to dress in period costume or fashion of yesteryear there will also be a prize for this. A full bar and canteen will be in operation with delicious, fresh food and of course the young members of the community will be entertained with the Lions Jumping Castle and Merry Go Round.
BIG HEART DOORKNOCK APPEAL: The Big Heart Doorknock Appeal is being conducted Australia wide during September. It is being held in Grenfell from now till Saturday September 30 2017.
This will involve 4800 volunteer collectors knocking on doors to collect vital funds for the Heart Foundation’s life saving research and health programs.
QUANDIALLA SPRINGTIME BALL: A Reminder that the Quandialla community will be conducting a Springtime Ball fundraiser for Macey Yerbury in the Memorial Hall tomorrow evening September 23 from 6.30pm. Music by “Nuttin 2 Serious”, dress is semi formal and there will be prizes for “Fashions on the Field, BYO drinks and nibbles. Pies, Sausage Rolls and Tea/Coffee will be available for purchase on the night.

OPEN GARDENS: The Open Gardens, organised by the Grenfell Garden Club and supported by the Weddin Shire Council will be held on Saturday and Sunday October 14 and 15.
The gardens will be open between 10am and 4pm. Entry fee is $2 at each garden and a plant stall and raffle will be conducted at Patina Gallery on the Gooloogong Road (entry opposite the Country Club), where you may also enjoy morning or afternoon tea or lunch in a rural setting and wander around and enjoy Kathleen’s amazing sculptures and art works.
Gardens that will be open are Sharon and Noel Cartwright’s beautiful native garden at 107 Cowra Road, Davina and Andrew Ray’s large garden with over 100 roses at 74 Manganese Road, Bernadette Dykhoff’s established garden 62 Gooloogong Road, Claire and Simon Nowlan’s rural garden with established trees at “Glenesk” 30ks from town on the Bimbi Road (Mary Gilmore Way), Rod and Wendy Goodsell’s beautiful country garden 679 Adelargo Road (7kms from the Cowra Road turnoff) and Susan and Jim Dunlop’s newly constructed garden with established bushes at 35 Tyagong Street.
