In the Woodbridge Cup match of the round the fourth placed Goannas travelled to Peak Hill to take on the fifth placed Roosters. It was always going to be a close game, but as it was they couldn’t be separated playing out a 36 all draw. The Roosters raced to a 12 nil lead before going to the break leading 24 to 16. The Goannas were their own worst enemy with poor completions and letting Peak Hill dominate the ruck.

Final round of Woodbridge Cup: Grenfell will host Trundle at Lawson Park this Saturday in the final game of the home and away season with the semi-finals kicking off next week. Note that normal Saturday game times will not apply as we will start earlier due to our Reverse Draw being held later at the Bowling Club. League Tag will play at 12.40pm and First Grade at 2pm. For details about the Reverse Draw contact Mark on 0401 526 330 or Gary on 0402 804 606.
Our undefeated League Tag girls have wrapped up the minor premiership and although only having ten players last week they beat Peak Hill 60 to nil at Linder Oval. Trundle have won 7 games this year but need to win this week’s match to break into the top five.
In First Grade the Goannas will clash with a Boomers team who will have plenty of motivation as a win sees them secure the minor premiership but a loss will likely result in Manildra claiming the top spot. After an exciting 36 all draw at Peak Hill last week the Goannas have cemented their place in the semi-finals and already have a date with Peak Hill on August 19 in a sudden death finals game.
