After qualifying for and competing at the New South Wales Summer Country Championships in Sydney earlier this year, Tom Robinson was invited to be part of the Mountains and Plains Swimming Area Senior Target Squad.
Swimmers were invited to attend a development day in Bathurst in July which included state-of-the-art underwater filming of their swimming. Selected swimmers would then compete at the Target Squad Short Course carnival at Woy Woy on July 29 and 30.
As part of the Mountains and Plains team, Tom placed second in the 14 years boys’ 50m freestyle and seventh in the 100m freestyle, posting PB's in both events. This is a terrific achievement.
Tom also successfully competed in the 14 years boys’ 100m backstroke, the 14 years and over boys’ 200m freestyle and medley relays with both relay teams placing second. Well done Tom.
Local swimmers are looking forward to the upcoming opening of the town’s new state-of-the-art Aquatic Centre which will provide a fantastic modern facility as well as creating opportunities for swimmers to qualify for events such as the state and country championships.
