The boys to take the field were Nathan Wilson, Aydan Eyles, Adam Hewen, Ethan Reid, Lachlan Stevens, Saxon Southwell, Kevin Silburn, Matthew Ryan, BJ Flick and playing up were Dylan King, Kyle Mawhinney, Josh Smith and Angus Birch.
Grenfell kicked off and with strong defence the boys were able to keep Red Bend Navy in their 20 but weren't able to hold on to the ball in their first set. Adam was performing great chase downs and after a few quick penalties to Grenfell, Saxon went over to put first points on the board with a successful conversion by Lachlan.
Good set plays were done by the Grenfell boys with impressive running by Nate, Matt and Saxon. Hard playing for the next few sets saw a very energised Grenfell go over for another try scored by Aydan and converted by Lachlan. Great scooting and quick passes saw Grenfell over again with Adam getting the try and Lachlan converting.
The next set saw Ethan with hard running and good speed run most of the field 50m to score the 4th try of the game for the home team. Lachlan "Golden Boot" Stevens made it four out of four successful conversions as well.
Red Bend Navy got down to Grenfell’s try line but hard hitting defence by the home side made them lose the ball which was followed up by Grenfell doing the same thing on their tryline.
A good pickup from a Red Bend kick saw Angus only metres from their in goal start off a fantastic run down the field which was then followed up with a penalty which resulted in a try scored by Matt. Red Bend Navy got the ball over the line but dropped it right on the half time siren.
The second half started off with a few knock-ons and a lost ball over the try line by the Grenfell boys. Within minutes Grenfell gained momentum with Nate putting in a great dummy and impressive footwork and scoring under the posts with Lachlan successfully converting bringing the score to 34-0.
Another good run off the catch from Angus and metres being made by Kevin, Lachlan and Saxon saw BJ get the ball and do a few darting quick steps to go over again with Golden Boot converting. With 18 minutes left on the clock Red Bend Navy went over for their first try of the game bringing the score to 40-6.
From the kickoff Nate got the ball back and Grenfell quickly capitalised on that with Ethan scoring his second try of the game. Red Bend Navy then went over again.
With thirteen minutes left on the clock and after a Red Bend Navy mistake of dropping the ball on their try line the Grenfell boys did a great pickup which saw Matt go over for a try. This was quickly followed up with another penalty where Nate went over for his second try of the game. Final score was 52-10. Congratulations boys on a terrific win after a very hard fought game.
