This week marks the sixth week of the Grenfell Bring Healthy Back challenge and focuses primarily on mental health. Physical and mental health go hand in hand and we all need to care for both of these aspects of our health. Think about ways that you can look after your mental well being like going for a walk and making the most of the great outdoors, take some time out from technology and sleep more, reduce your stress, talk to a friend, join a group, drink more water or exercise. There are some great benefits on offer to help our community during week 6 of the BHB challenge!
This Thursday, July 20, two free meditation sessions will run at the Bowling Club at 10.30 am and 6 pm with host Robyn Lynch from The Perfect Health Centre. All members of the community are invited. Did you know meditation is cheap, has no side effects and can be done anywhere to help manage stress and enjoy more restful sleep from day one?
The Breathe, Move, Meditate program will also take place this Thursday at the Bowling Club. This program is for parents, teachers and educators to assist our little ones to relax and practise breathing, moving and simple meditation techniques that can be adopted in the classroom, home or child care centre, this workshop is also free and starts at 4pm.
Don't forget there is also the ‘Song Writing for Men’s Well being’ workshops taking place, contact 6338 4657 for details.
There is also a free two day Mental Health First Aid workshop at the Hub with Di Gill, participants of the 2 day course will leave with improved knowledge of mental illnesses and their treatments, knowledge of appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness, benefits which have been shown to be maintained over time. This will run over two Mondays July 24 and 31 from 9 am – 4 pm, register with Community Health on 6349 1777 by July 20.
The Weddin Day Therapy Well being and Memory Gym Program will run for four weeks for people aged in their 60s to challenge brain function and improve social and emotional well being! Join in on Wednesdays 10am at Community Health with Elly starting August 2. There has never been a better time to bring our mental health back to Grenfell.
