On a very chilly frosty night, Danny Joyce and Rod Freudenstein were in great form to win Round 6 of the Men’s Winter Night Tennis Competition with the high score of 33 games.

Danny and Rod went through their five sets undefeated, winning all sets 7/1, 6/2, 7/1, 5/3, 8/0. In all, they only lost 7 games for the night- a very good effort.
Their nearest rivals were fill-ins, Graham Watt and Alan Jones who won 21 games.
Graham, filling in for Stuart McKellar and Alan Jones, filling in for Mark Liebich had mixed results with sets being 3/5, 8/0, 6/2, 4/4, 0/8.
Next best were two more fill-ins, Lewis Keogh for Hugh Moffitt and Matt Clarke for Leigh Taylor and they won 19 games after some close tussles.
Their sets were 6/2, 4/4, 2/6, 3/5, 4/4.
Grahame Edwards and Pat Hazell won 18 games for the round.
Sets were 5/3, 2/6, 4/4, 3/5, 4/4, while Charles Harvey and Arnold Brown battled away in their sets with very close results when four of their sets finished at 4/4, 4/4, 4/4, 4/4.
Their other set, they went down 1/7, given them a total of 17 games.
The other pair taking part, Grant Fisher and John Walmsley had little luck and won 12 games for the night.
Bill Rudd’s annual Christmas in July Dinner
Tennis players, golfers and other members of the public are reminded of the Country Club’s Christmas in July Dinner evening to be held on Sunday, July 30 commencing at 6.30 pm.
Club chef, Tania will be providing all the usual Christmas flavours for the two course meal.
The cost is just $25.00 per person and $12 for primary age children.
There will be entertainment provided during the evening, plus several novelty lucky door prizes and of course the popular head and tails competition.
A night not to be missed as this event is proving more and more popular each year so now is the time to organise a party and get those bookings in as soon as possible to help the caterer.
