Mens’ Bowls: In a tense finish to an exciting match, Andrew Armstrong (skip), Gavin Johnson and Nevin Hughes gained a berth in the final of the club’s 2017 Triples Championship when they defeated Blake Bradtke (skip), James Hunter and Ray Walter at the weekend. With the score at 14-3 after seven ends, things looked grim for Blake’s team, but they settled down and began scoring shots. After 15 ends they had reduced the deficit to just three shots at 19-16 and by the 19th end the score was locked at 22-all. Andrew’s team held their nerve on the 20th end, scoring three shots to lead 25-22. With Andrew’s team holding shot, Blake tried desperately to kill the last end with his last bowl, but just missed. The final score was 26-22. Andrew’s team will now meet Graeme Hunter (skip), Roger Baker and Rob Chambers in the final.

Major/Minor Pairs: Entries are rolling in for the Major/Minor Pairs 2017 championship so don’t leave it too late to select a partner and get your names in. The nomination list is on the board.
Much appreciated: Thanks to the volunteers who came along on Saturday and helped with the lopping of the trees on the northern side of the greens, this will eliminate a lot of shade in winter and allow frosts to thaw more quickly.
Jackpot: The required combo for the bowls jackpot this week was a very unlikely score of +9 on the fifth end on an odd-numbered rink. There were no winners, this week it’s worth $297.
