Lewis was a fill-in for Pat Hazell and he and Danny went through the Round undefeated after playing competitive and consistent tennis. Sets were 5/3, 5/3, 5/3, 7/1, 6/2. Well played men. Grahame Edwards and his fill-in for Mark Liebich, Graham Watt also played top tennis to capture a total of 25 games. The pair lost their first two sets 3/5, then found form to go on and win 6/2, 5/3, 8/0, another fine effort.
Charles Harvey and Rod Freudenstein battled away to win 22 games. Their sets were 3/5, 7/1, 2/6, 5/3, 5/3, while Grant Fisher and Arnold Brown won a total of 20 games after some very close sets which were 5/3, 6/2, 3/5, 3/5, 3/5. Stuart McKellar and Leigh Taylor had mixed results and won 16 games. Their sets were 5/3, 2/6, 4/4, 3/5, 2/6. The other pair taking part in the Winter Night Competition, Hugh Moffitt and John Walmsley battled away in their sets without much luck, however, they were unlucky to not have won the third set when they levelled the score 4/4 with Stuart and Leigh.
The 12 men commenced their 5th Round on Tuesday night with threatening skies, however, the rain stayed away until early Wednesday. The men will play Round 6, which is the half way mark of their Winter Competition next Tuesday night, July 11, weather permitting. There was a pleasing roll-up for social tennis last Thursday afternoon, June 29 and hopefully this trend will keep up especially when the weather is more pleasant.

INTERTOWN MATCH A SUCCESS
All towns converged on Grenfell recently when we hosted the second round of the Intertown Competition. With the start of the day bathed in sunshine, teams from Temora, West Wyalong, Forbes and Grenfell took to the court to battle for the valuable sets and games to add to their running tally, in a bid to take out the Champion town at the completion of the competition. After a great day of competitive but friendly tennis the Temora team walked away from the opposition with a very credible 37 sets. West Wyalong were second on the day overall with a tally of 21 sets, closely followed by Forbes and Grenfell with 20 and 18 sets respectfully. For the Grenfell team, a special mention must be made of Cassie Griffin. With a very busy life and young family Cass hasn’t played a lot of tennis in recent years. With an illness in the team on Sunday morning Cassie got a late call up to fill the void and what a magnificent job she did. Combining with the Number #1 Caragabal player, Shirley Davies, the girls went through undefeated winning 3 sets and Cass then paired with Greenethorphe cattle baron, Graham Watt, to win two of the 3 sets on offer giving Cassie 5 out of a possible 6 sets for the day. Thank you and well done Cassie. Also with a notable day was Esma “Evergreen” Baker. At the ripe age of 70 odd Esmerelda played like a 20 year old compiling 4 sets with the help of Leanne Livingstone and Matt Clarke.
