HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY: Patricia Grant jetted in from New Zealand recently to spend some time with her parents Meg and Jack and her siblings and family in Wagga. Whilst in Grenfell, Patricia celebrated her 50th birthday and together with her parents, her sister Carmel and sister in law Sharon shared an enjoyable evening at ‘Circling’ where they sampled different Pizza.

HOME FROM UNI: Grace Best and her good friend and roommate Krishni Jayawardana who are both studying at Newcastle University were home in Grenfell during the holidays.
Grace is studying a double degree of Maths and Science and Krishni is studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours).
VISITING FROM BERRY: Hugh Moffitt hosted his cousin James and his wife Jennifer Moffitt when they were visiting from Berry. As well as visiting Hugh, they also caught u p with Hugh’s sister Jennifer and her husband John Hetherington and were treated to a night out.
HAPPY BIRTHDAYS: Happy birthday to Amber Atkins who celebrated her birthday at Fettlers with her mother Belinda Power, her brothers Darcy Atkins and Ethan Reid and friends Michelle Rohan, Rhys Reid, Kye Smith, Alicia Walsh and Holly Ryan.
Bill Matchett celebrated his birthday recently at the Happy Inn Restaurant with his wife Clemence and good friends Kathy and Greg Parker and Fiona Johnson.
A SPECIAL BIRTHDAY: Jacquie Matthews celebrated a special birthday with her husband Harvey, her son Tom and his girlfriend Grace and her parents Brenda and Garry Hargrave from Young. Jacquie’s brother Jim and his wife Eileen Broughton also from Young enjoyed the special night.
SURPRIZE VISIT: Irene Carroll and her daughter Bianca and new baby Hunter paid a surprise visit to Grenfell last week. I received a message asking if I could handle a few visitors. When I returned the call and asked when are you coming? The reply was “In forty minutes.” It was lovely to catch up and see the new addition to the family. Irene, nee Joyce (daughter of Mavis and Paddy) and husband the late Gill Carroll were former owners of the Greenethorpe Hotel. The family who live near Beaudesert in Queensland were on a trip to catch up with family at Grenfell, Cowra and Bathurst before travelling to Sydney to visit Irene’s other children Jason and Rebecca.
FUN WEEKEND: After a fantastic afternoon at the Grenfell Team Sorting event on Saturday June 25, Jenny Wilson, Jason McCue, Tess Smith, Warren Harris, Ngaire Soley and Warren Chapman enjoyed a catch-up dinner at the Happy Inn Restaurant.
AN EVENING IN NEPAL: The CWA Evening Branch annual International evening will be held on Wednesday July 19 at the Railway Hotel. Nepal is the country of study this year. Carol Logan has been sourcing recipes and as in other years will have a wonderful Nepalese menu for everyone to enjoy. The evening will get underway at 6.30pm for fellowship followed by dinner at 7pm. Local Librarian Anne Gault, who has travelled to Nepal a few times and volunteered to assist building a school following their devastating earthquake, will be guest speaker. All welcome. Bookings close with Deidre Carroll on 6343 1574 on Sunday July 16.
