COMBINED CELEBRATIONS: Families gathered together at Fettlers Restaurant to celebrate Dorothy Starr’s 70th and Angus Taylor’s 40th Birthdays. The families also took the opportunity to farewell Hamish Starr before his departure with the NSW Combined High Schools’ Cricket team for a three weeks’ tour of the UK. Hamish jets out today June 30 for his trip of a lifetime.
BOB AND HAZEL VISIT GRENFELL: Former resident Bob Laundess and his wife Hazel returned to Grenfell last weekend to compete at the Team Sorting competition hosted by the Weddin Mountains Performance Horse Club Inc.
Bob and his siblings all grew up in Grenfell now lives in the small community of Bywong near Bungendore. He and his wife Hazel really enjoyed their trip home and caught up with many old friends.
AN EVENING IN NEPAL: The CWA Evening Branch annual International evening will be held on Wednesday July 20 at the Railway Hotel.
Nepal is the country of study this year. Carol Logan has been sourcing recipes and as in other years will have a wonderful menu for everyone to enjoy.
The evening will get underway at 6.30pm for fellowship followed by dinner at 7pm.
Local Librarian Anne Gault, who has travelled to Nepal a few times and volunteered to assist building a school following their devastating earthquake, will be guest speaker.
Everyone is invited to attend. Bookings close with Deidre Carroll on 6343 1574 on Sunday July 16.
