The Outback Car Trek is an annual event that donates the funds it raises each year to The Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The Trek 2017 started in Griffith NSW on Sunday June 4 and will finish at Port Macquarie Saturday June 10.
The Trek is an event for older 2WD cars, and all of the cars are specially prepared to cope with the fun of outback and remote dirt road driving.
On Friday June 02, ten participants from all over, enroute to Griffith had a stopover in Grenfell. They had a fun filled evening at the Railway Hotel.
Three of the trekkers; Moz, Simmo and Fred to date had already raised $56,000 in 2017 for the cause.
Another trekker Paul Gallant said he and his wife Glenda from Mackay Qld had been to Grenfell before, as they had met Peter and Judy Spedding on a cruise and have remained good friends.
Fred Ayoub, Chairman of the Mt Lewis Bowls Club (who turned 50 on May 30) was on the Trek with his son and celebrated his birthday with the group. Fred has even been known to do the ‘ice bucket’ challenge.
