Grenfell Goannas Junior League Tag team have made it into the 2016 Grand Final.

The Junior Girls have secured a spot in this year’s Grand Final to be played on Saturday at Canowindra at 9am, after finishing 2nd on the Ladder Board. The girls lost in the Qualifying Semi Final against West Wyalong Black, then had to play in the Preliminary Final against Minor Premier’s Cabonne to secure there spot, and a chance to play West Wyalong Black again. The team is led by Co-Captains Holli Madgwick and Lily Holmes who also play Dummy Half and 1st Receiver in the 1st half of the game where they display their leadership and prowess in tagging and movement of the ball.  In the 2nd half Emily Edwards and Teleitha O’Byrne fill the positions and keep the team moving forward. Our wingers Charli O’Byrne and Linda Hucker are great on the sidelines stopping the attack with their skilful tags.  The team’s fullback Taylor Keppie has been consistent throughout the year, and reads the play well in her roll. Megan Wilson, Isabel Heathcote, Phoebe Heathcote who are inside our wingers also display great defence work and forward running skills. Newcomers Amelia Donnelly and Marley Loader have picked up the game quickly and have contributed to the defence line and have made some good runs throughout the year. Jade Douglass, Alyssa Heathcote, Annie Nealon have played for a couple of years now and have improved a lot this year earning they spot on the field.  The team’s youngest member Charlotte Reid is still learning the game and will improve with each game she plays. Grenfell let’s get behind the girls and come and watch them in action. Good luck team! Coach Isabel and Deanne are so proud of you all.
