Top day of footy in Wagga

On Sunday the Grenfell / Wyalong junior rugby squads travelled to Wagga for a day of tough football.

Grenfell Junior Rugby Club's Tanya Radnedge said it was a good weekend and semi successful, with Grenfell playing a couple of tough teams.

The Under 10s came out swinging, facing off against a tough Leeton outfit in a nail-biter that left fans on the edge of their seats. Despite falling just short in a tightly contested match, the boys showed remarkable resilience.

Ms Radnedge said the 10s were really unlucky against the bigger Leeton squad, but were able to finish their day with a win.

But the Grenfell warriors didn’t leave the day empty-handed. They rallied like champions, securing a thumping victory over Young in their next outing.

Liam and Harry were instrumental, weaving through defenses and putting on a top display on the field.

The Under 12's started well with a win in a thrilling showdown against Temora. Among the Grenfell players who found their names on the scoresheet were Beau, Charlie, and Jed.

Unfortunately the 12's then faced off against a really tough Harden squad.

Ms Radnedge said the Harden squad was a tough team to beat, with a bulk of players from last year's winning team in the Under 10's

The Under 14's Tri Tag faced off against a .couple of really strong teams who have been playing together for a while.

Ms Radnedge said the girls had a bit of a learning curve on the day, but despite that, had a good time on the day.

Even though the season has started, Ms Radnedge said they are still accepting registrations, and it is not too late to come on board.

The Grenfell / Wyalong junior rugby squads will have this weekend off, before heading to Cootamundra in a fortnight.
