Closing the season with two grand final wins and three minor premierships

The Cowra Senior Soccer Club is celebrating one of its most successful seasons to date, with a grand final campaign that saw all three teams qualify for the deciders and two bringing home premiership victories.

Club President Drew Willis said the year was marked not just by results on the field, but by the growth of the club’s social culture and unity across all grades.

“All in all, the season’s been great,” Willis said.

“The social side of things has really picked up, which is what you really want in a small club.”

“You really want everybody to get around the activities like club nights and dinners.”

“I feel like a few key figures in the teams have really drawn that together, people like Adam and Courtney, really helping bring all the teams together.”

The 2025 season will be remembered for the club’s outstanding on-field success, with the Women’s and Senior Men’s teams both winning their grand finals, while the Youth Men fell just short in a hard-fought contest.

“Getting all three teams to the grand final and coming away with two wins out of the three is a big win for the club,” Willis said.

The celebrations reflected just how much the achievement meant to players and supporters alike.

“The atmosphere was pretty electric, especially on the bus ride home,” Willis said.

“Everybody was in really high spirits.”

“It was just phenomenal to have all our teams through and to get really close results as well.”

“It was all very tight and hard earned.”

Willis took the chance to thank those who worked behind the scenes to make the season possible.

“None of this would ever happen without all the committee members,” he said.

“There’s people outside the club as well who helped out where they could with home game referees.”

“Lisa Cartwright helped us source referees when we were short.”

“Our team coordinators, Erin McAuliffe, Mitchell Thompson, Courtney Booth, and Adam Gambrill all did a phenomenal job bringing their teams together and getting them all the way,” Willis said.

While the club is still celebrating its achievements, planning for the next season is already on the horizon.

“Pre-season will start early summer,” Willis said.

“So we’ll be looking forward to seeing everybody next year.”

For the Cowra Senior Soccer Club, 2025 will be remembered not just for the two premiership wins and three minor premiership wins, but for the strength of its community, the growth of its culture and the commitment of players and volunteers who made it all possible.
