Pickers solidify top five spot after another win

Young Cherrypickers 1st grade narrowly claimed a 28–22 win over the Cootamundra Bulldogs in Round 12 of the Group 9 First Grade.

Five tries by Kai Parker, Devon Makoare, Mathew Murray, Cathane Hill and Thomas Giles, three out of the five tries converted efficiently by Robert Roberts who got 1 conversion and Thomas Demeio who got 2.

Thomas Demeio also got 1 penalty goal.

With this result, Young maintain their top‑5 position on the ladder, maintaining momentum for the finals push

This was an efficient, gritty performance by Young, backed by strong forward work and effective backline execution, earning a vital win in a tight contest.

In other games, Gundagai Tigers won against the Tumut Blues 14 - 10, Albury Thunder took the game against Brothers Wagga first grade 66 - 10, Kangaroos Wagga first grade won 34 - 16 against the Southcity Bulls first grade and the Junner Diesels first grade side took the game against Temora Dragons first grade 26 - 16.

Reserve grade

The Cherrypickers reserve side won their game against Cootamundra Bulldogs, with a final score of 14 - 12.

The Cherrypickers scored 3 tried in total, with Issac Matalavea, Dominic Scott and Billy Corcoran each getting 1 try and Thomas Cummins converting 1.

In other Reserve grade games, Gundagai Tigers took their game against the Tumut Blues 22 - 8, Albury Thunder had a huge win over Brothers Wagga 66 - 0, Southcity Bulls took a loss to the Kangaroos 6 - 14 and the Temora Dragons won their game against the Junee Diesels 28- 10.

Womens' tackle didn't play in this round but are set to take on the Gundagai Tigers Women's Tackle side in round 13 on the 27th at Alfred Oval.

The Under 18s side played the Cootamundra Bulldogs in round 12, clashing at Les Boyds Oval Fisher Park in Cootamundra, the Cherrypickers U18s took the game 16-6.

Cooper Smith, Jarryd Foster and Lucas Moloney each got 1 try and Jack woods converted 2 out of the 3.

In other games Albury took their game against 36 - 28, Kangaroos Wagga won their game against Southcity 32 - 26 and Junee Diesels won their game against the Temora Dragons 22 - 10.

The team has a bye in round 13 and won't be playing on the 27th of July.

The Cherrypickers League tag side took a tough loss against the Cootamundra league tag team 0 - 34.
