Australian podium finish for Duggan siblings

The Duggan siblings, Hayden and Taylah, have proved that they aren't messing around on the track coming home with first and second in their respective classes at the 2025 Australian Junior Track Championship.

After claiming the Australian Dirt Track Championship title last year in the nine to 13 years on the 150cc, Hayden has moved up an age class into the 12 to 16 years 150cc and has shown his older competitors he is one to beat.

"It was definitely a lot harder than previous years a lot more talented riders to compete against, but I think it will help improve my riding," Hayden said.

Hayden placed first in all four rounds at the Australian Junior Track Championship in Canberra and continued the success in the finals with a first place finish earning him a clean sweep over the weekend on the 150cc.

The young rider said he didn't expect to win all of his rounds as he was up against some talented riders.

"Winning all the rounds made me feel confident heading into the finals but I knew it was a final and anything could happen.

"It definitely means a lot to me (winning the championship) as all my hard work and dedication has paid off," Hayden added.

Hayden also rode in the 12 to 16 years 250cc class placing ninth overall with three third place finishes and one fourth place finish in the rounds which earnt him a spot in the final.

Hayden said he definitely loves riding the 250cc as it is faster but still enjoys riding his 150cc and said his highlight of the weekend racing in Canberra was taking the checkered flag lap on the 150cc.

He's sister Taylah also had an impressive weekend at the Championship in Canberra riding in the 85/150cc 12 to 16 years girls class on her 150cc.

Taylah placed second in three rounds, third in one and fifth in one.

Since there was only six girls in Taylah's class there was no final and her results in her rounds earnt here the second step of the podium.

"I didn’t expect to make the podium at all as the girls I was racing were a lot older than me, I was shocked, happy and excited," Taylah said.

Racing against girls older than herself Taylah said she was very nervous at the start, but her confidence built up throughout the races.

Taylah said the highlight of her weekend racing in Canberra was making the podium and watching her brother win the championship.

Looking ahead Hayden and Taylah are looking forward to competing at the NSW Long track Title in Tamworth, the Quirindi Long Track, Victoria Titles and supporting surrounding local race days this year.

The siblings are hoping to compete in races as much as possible against the best riders to continue learning and improving their skills on the bike.

Both Hayden and Taylah would like to say a big thank you to all of their sponsors and to everyone that has helped them out including Roylances Tractor Replacements, Maslin's Concrete Pumping, Dunk Insurance Brokers, Mototech Canberra, Jelbarts Tyrepower Forbes, C and M Ryan Automotive Detailing and mum and dad.
