Mixed Pairs Championship: Last year’s Mixed Pairs Champions, Matty and Pat Reid, were eliminated from this year’s competition on Sunday when they were pipped at the post by the husband and wife team of Martin and Kathy Betcher.

In a tense and exciting match, the scores were locked at 15-all after 21 ends and the result was decided by an extra end.
Kathy and Martin managed to score a ‘golden point’ in the tie-breaker to take out the match 16-15.
In the other match played on Sunday John Grogan and Dale Scott sailed to victory over Rob and Bev Coleman, winning the match by a convincing 33-16.
The two winning teams will now face each other in the next round of the competition.
Social Bowls: Fine weather ensured a good roll-up of social bowlers this week, with a total of 64 players on the greens.
Prize winners were: Chooks – Andrew Armstrong, Robert Cochrane, Terry Green, Dave Hancock, Kerry Aston, Barry Bradtke and John Hunter; Market Night vouchers – Barry Bradtke, Ray Walter, Jimmy Sparkes, Col Meyers, John Joyce (x2) and Reece Hughes; Free games – Barry Jones (x2), Mark McSpadden, George Dumbrell, Gary Pipe, Warren Paine and Col Meyers.
As you can see by the list of winners, there are plenty of prizes handed out at our social bowls each week and you don’t have to be a bowls champion to win.
So why not join us on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays for a most enjoyable afternoon.

Christmas hams: Yes, it’s that time of the year again and from December 6 Christmas hams will be on offer as extra prizes at social bowls.
In addition mixed bowls will be held on Saturdays December 9 and 16, with two hams as prizes on each of those days.
Blayney Christmas triples: Blayney Bowling club will be conducting a special Christmas triples tournament on Saturday, December 9, with entry open to men’s, women’s or mixed teams.
Entry fee is $45 per team, which includes a light lunch. Play will commence at 9am and comprises three games of 12 ends. Teams will be playing for $450 in prize money, plus hams.

Twilight Open Bowls: Don’t forget, all skill levels are catered for and no prior bowling knowledge is necessary to join in our family-friendly bowls afternoons on Saturdays from 4pm-7pm.
So, bring along your partner, kids and friends for a relaxed twilight bowls afternoon with no pressure and the emphasis on fun and enjoyment. Names in by 3pm on 6343 1656 for a 4pm start.
The club’s bistro is open from 6pm and there are regular meat raffles supporting the Men’s bowling club. The club’s courtesy bus operates from 6pm until closing time.
Jackpot: To win this week’s jackpot of $384 you needed a score of +3 on end 6, on an even rink.
There were no winners and next week the jackpot will be worth $441.
