2017 Remembrance Day Service and RSL Dining In Night

On Saturday November 11 at 11am members of the Grenflel RSL, ex-servicemen and women along with their families and friends, Army Cadets, school students, and members of the public gathered at Memorial Park to pay tribute to those who lost their lives or suffered in the line of duty since the Great War.

Grenfell Cadets performed the Catafalque duties, Terry Carroll gave the Welcome to Country ceremony then MC Glenn Ivins, Grenfell RSL President, addressed the crowd followed by a Prayer of Remembrance and Peace.

The Wreath Laying ceremony then took place where children from local schools laid wreaths along with veterans as well as a number of clubs and organisations.

This was followed by the sounding of ‘The Last Post’ by brothers Michael and Paul Best where the flags were lowered to half mast, then came a period of one minutes silence followed by the Ode of Remembrance.

“They shall grow not old – as we that are left grow old Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them” Lest We Forget.
