A 12-year-old boy was hit in the face when a firearm was discharged at a rural property at Thuddungra, 15km north of Young, about 7pm on Wednesday September 27, 2017.
The child was treated at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and released soon after.
Investigators from Cootamundra Local Area Command have been told the child should not have any serious or lasting effects from the injury.
Following inquiries, about 2.45pm yesterday (Monday October 16, 2017), a 43-year-old man was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice (FCAN), for the offences of not keep firearm safe, and give firearm to person not authorised by licence/permit.
The man, from Thuddungra, is due to appear in Young Local Court on Tuesday January 9, 2018.
The man’s firearms licence has been suspended and he surrendered all firearms to police for destruction.
It is believed the child has since made a full recovery.
