This is a bread wheat competition. Any variety of bread wheat which does not attract a discount at your local silo is eligible to enter this competition.
It is very important that all local competition score sheets reach the ASC by the cut-off date applicable to your region, which for Weddin Shire is November 8, 2017.
The top five crops in each region will be judged to determine the Regional Winners within a couple of days of the local judging and the winning Regional crop will be judged the following day to determine the State Winner.
Local farmers Bill Matchett and Maurice Gregory Parker believe many crops within the Weddin Shire are in a very good, healthy position to enter this year’s competition despite the lack of rain.
“Not so long ago we would have up to 14-15 farmers enter their crops in these types of competitions, however, lately we are lucky to have 2 or 3 entries within our shire,” said Mr Parker.
“It would be terrific if more of our local farmers could enter their crops as there are some great rewards on offer.”
Prizes for the competition include:
*Local Competition winner: Ribbon & $50 Lowes Petroleum Voucher
*Regional championship winner: 1st Place - $600, 2nd Place - $250, 3rd Place - $150 ASC Plaque and ribbon. Hamper and $100 Lowes Petroleum Voucher for 1st Place winners
*State championship winner: $900 Prize money ASC Trophy, ribbon and $200 Lowes Petroleum Voucher
*Farming excellence award: Travel to the value of $1000 and hamper
