Round 3 of the Ladies Spring Tennis Competition was played on Tuesday night and the winners were Esma Baker (A Division) and Hannah Joyce (B Division) with the grand total of 33 games.

Tuesday night's round 3 winners were Esma Baker (A Division) and Hannah Joyce (B Division) with the grand total of 33 games, well done.

Esma and Hannah played consistent tennis to finish up with scores of 5/1, 5/1, 4/2, 6/0, 5/1, 4/2, 4/2.
The next best players for the round were Sally Mitton (A) and Margo Taylor (B) winning a total of 28 games.
Their sets were 3/3, 4/2, 5/1, 3/3, 5/1, 5/1, 3/3.
Leanne Livingstone A and Courtney Taylor B won 22 games for the round, while Sandra Matthews A and Abbey Joyce B won 20 games.
Alicia White A and Maria Neill B won 17 games while Lyndell Rolls A and Sharon Eppelstun B won 16 games.
Cassie Griffin A and Temeika Rolls B won 15 games for the round and Lynne Peterson and her partner for the night, Tracey Walker battled away in their sets to win 13 games.
The ladies will now play Round 4 of their Spring Competition next Tuesday night, October 10 weather permitting.
HARVEY AND MOFFITT WIN MEN’S TENNIS
Round 4 of the Men’s Spring Tennis Competition was also played on Tuesday night and the top players were Charles Harvey and Hugh Moffitt winning 25 games narrowly from Matthew Clarke and Pat Hazell 24 games.
Matthew was a fill-in for Andrew Bucknell.
Charles and Hugh won their first three sets in fine style, 5/3, 5/3, 7/1, but went down to the runners-ups, Matthew and Pat 2/6 in the fourth set.
Charles and Hugh recovered and went on to win the last set 6/2.
To win their 24 games, Matthew and Pat levelled their first set 4/4, then played consistent tennis to win 5/3, 5/3, 6/2 and levelled the last set 4 all.
Very good tennis for the pair.
Grahame Edwards and Mark Liebich won a total of 22 games for the round.
Scores were 5/3, 8/0, 1/7, 4/4, 4/4, while Danny Joyce and Ben Walker who was filling in for Rod Freudenstein, battled away in their sets to win a total of 20 games.
Sets were 3/5, 3/5, 3/5, 5/3, 6/2, very close results for the two men. Stuart McKellar and John Walmsley also had close results and won a total of 16 games.
Sets were 3/5, 3/5, 4/4, 4/4, 2/6.
The other pair taking part, Leigh Taylor and Arnold Brown won 13 games after two of their sets were levelled at 4 all, losing the fourth set narrowly 3/5 and went down in their other two sets.
Next Tuesday night, October 10, weather permitting, the men will play Round 5 of their Spring Night Tennis Competition.
