The Minister responsible for TAFE NSW, Adam Marshall, visited the site of the proposed CLC on Wednesday, October 4.
Nationals candidate Steph Cooke was also in attendance for the special announcement.
Mr Marshall announced the new CLC will be built and operational in Grenfell by December 2018.
Mr Marshall said the new multi-million dollar CLC will significantly enhance TAFE NSW’s presence in Grenfell and replace outdated facilities with a new digitally enabled facility.
“When opened in December next year the new Grenfell CLC will mean that students from Grenfell and surrounds will be able to access potentially double the number of courses currently available, without being forced to travel long distances,” Mr Marshall said.
“Students will be able to learn in state-of-the-art facilities, which connect into the TAFE NSW state-wide network of campuses, capable of reflecting real-world work and social environments.
“With access to a flexible learning and assessment model and a personalised experience, the new CLC will provide students with better access to teachers both on and off site.”
Mr Marshall said TAFE NSW would continue to deliver its current program of education and training services from the existing campus up until the new Grenfell CLC was in operation.
He also confirmed that a site for the new CLC had not yet been established as further consultation is needed with council to determine a suitable location and that the future use of the current infrastructure will be decided by members of the community.
During his visit Mr Marshall also announced that the Weddin Community Native Nursery will not be disrupted.
In fact, the nursery site will be fully, legally owned by the nursery after being purchased for just $1 from the NSW Government ensuring security of tenure indefinitely.
President of the nursery committee, James Maslin, was delighted to make the exchange with the Minister on behalf of the many dedicated nursery volunteers who have worked tirelessly since it’s inception to bring it up to the very high standard in which it operates today.
